YOUR stories change lives

About 6 weeks ago, a parent saw information about PaFEC online and reached out. “Please help me” was the subject line of their email. Over the next few weeks, we worked with this family to help overcome extreme, life-altering circumstances: medical concerns, IEP mismanagement, district school adversity, and even a threat to their very living situation. As much as we tried, there was only so much we could do to help.

You see, we here at PaFEC are parents ourselves – parents who have seen their child harmed in some way by an education system that is in dire need of transformation – a complete rebuild. And so we feel it to our core – every story, every heartache.

We hadn’t heard from this parent for a bit, and were worried that perhaps they had actually been displaced when their call came in last week – to thank us. But really, the thanks belongs to those parents out there brave enough to share their stories.

Because due to the stories shared on our website, this mother found a desperately needed medical program for her son – one that was already significantly changing their lives and giving them hope for the future.

We have come to realize through our advocacy journey that we parents know a lot – but there can be huge gaps where K-12 education is concerned. We seek to help remedy that.
