Allegheny County
Mother of 6
School Models: District, Cyber Charter, Homeschool, Private
As a mom to six children, Sharon understands that every child is unique and special. A single education environment or offering simply does not work for every child. It’s imperative that families, as rightful lead advocates for their child, are able to choose from a vast array of options based on that precious child’s needs. Sharon knows that while district education may be perfect for some, perhaps another options such as private, charter, or homeschool may be better for others – as in her own household with two district graduates, two charter graduates, one child currently attending cyber charter, and another homeschooling.
PA Families for Education Choice was born from her own experience in the school system when she realized that parents frequently don’t know what their options are or who to reach out to when their children are experiencing difficulty. PaFEC was created so that a safe place existed for those families to find relief, refuge, and resolve for their child.
When not working to help families in navigating their child’s educational journey, Sharon loves to spend time with her family, cheer on her daughter’s college volleyball team, play with her many household pets, volunteer at her local horse barn or church with her family, or garden in the yard.

My name is Nicole, I am the mother of 4 children ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade, all attending district schools. I believe every child should be in the school atmosphere that they thrive most in. I am very thankful that this far my children have have done amazing socially and academically in our district’s school buildings. I enjoy volunteering in my children’s classrooms and with our PTOs. Our family is very involved with our district’s sports programs, I am the president of the youth co-ed K-6 wrestling program where 3 of my kids currently participate. I am also on the booster club for our Jr. High and High School Boys, where why oldest son participates. I also help with graphic design items for my daughters youth field hockey team.
I look forward to learning all I can about all of the school choice options available to families in Pennsylvania and being a resource to anyone who may need it.

Mother of 1
School Model: Microschool
I advocate for school choice because I’ve witnessed firsthand the detrimental impact that the wrong school environment can have on a child and their family. As an educator, I’ve seen countless children set up to fail, slipping through the cracks with lifelong consequences. Moreover, as a mother, I’ve observed my own son’s passion for learning diminish and his mental well-being suffer. Education can no longer be a one-size-fits-all institution. School choice empowers consumers—the parents and students—placing accountability on educational institutions to meet the unique needs of their communities.

Hello, my name is Catiana Muñiz, I am 33 years old and I have 3 beautiful children, 5, 11 and 17 years old, they are my driving force in life.
I am from Lancaster County. It is a pleasure for me to be part of this great group of parents who fight for the rights of our children. We are the best lawyer our children have. Children who are marked as unteachable are often fighting a heroic battle for survival.
