Be part of the Harrisburg conversation in shaping your child’s education

Sharon Sedlar | June 2, 2026

The decisions being made during this legislative season directly shape your child’s opportunities, both in and out of the classroom. Policies around funding, access, and educational options determine what resources are available, what choices families have, and ultimately how well students are prepared for the future. When parents stay silent, those decisions are made without their perspective. But when they get involved, they help ensure the system reflects the real needs of students and families. Your voice is one of the most powerful tools you have to influence change.

You don’t have to be at the statehouse to make a difference. You can advocate for your child right from home! Reach out to your legislator, join conversations on social media, write a letter to the editor or directly to your elected officials, or schedule a one-on-one meeting, either virtually or in person.

Legislators are in office to serve the people, and when parents speak, they listen!  Even if they don’t agree, they do hear you – and know that you’re paying attention.

We are getting closer to the end of the school year. Many have already graduated! While there is much to celebrate, the work is far from over. We are still in the middle of budget season, and momentum is building. Staying informed and engaged right now is more important than ever. Keep this issue at the top of your list and stay in the loop.

To all the graduates and soon-to-be graduates out there…
