“PHA’s first high school class is ‘amazing'”

“This fall, PHA opened its doors to its first high school class. We wanted to offer the same Christ-centered, Charlotte Mason-inspired, hybrid approach to homeschooling that our middle school families had come to know and love. Our hybrid approach to high school provides parents and students academic support with caring teachers, a set curriculum, and at-home assignments. Students can flourish in a social setting that allows them to learn, play, and grow alongside their peers while also strengthening their responsibility and independence by doing work at home at their own pace. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and are still offered a broad ‘feast’ of subjects that nourishes them mind, body, and spirit.

A Student’s Perspective

by Adelaide Marriott

“At the beginning of the summer, we didn’t know if Providence Hybrid Academy was going to be able to expand their program for the high school. Since I fell into that group, I was pretty upset that I wouldn’t be capable of attending the school the upcoming year. Through a turn of events, we learned that PHA would be piloting a 9th grade program. I am so grateful that PHA decided to offer high school courses. It has been amazing so far!”

“The new curriculum has been challenging but not unbearable. We’ve been studying many subjects using the Charlotte Mason approach, and I couldn’t be any happier with this learning style; I am able to obtain the information I need and actually retain it. Not to mention, my teachers have been incredible. In the classroom, I am super comfortable with sharing my work, opinions, and ideas without feeling judged for what I say.

“Seeing my friends and making connections with fellow students has always been something I’ve prioritized. PHA has done an amazing job at providing that for me. I love homeschooling alongside other kids and learning with them in our classes. One of my favorite parts of the day is having lunch with my friends and playing outside during recess. I am excited to be back at PHA and very thankful to have the opportunity to be part of the high school program.”

“It is still one of our greatest joys to know that students love coming to ‘school’ at PHA. They are interested in learning, feel safe taking risks and trying new things, know their point of view is honored, and are encouraged to dive deep into the world of ideas and see how God uses those to shape them. It’s our privilege to partner with the parents of these students in discipling and teaching them. We look forward to growing our program in the future and supporting more parents in meeting their families’ needs in the high school years.”
